That's upsetting
Every now and then you see these products which appear to exist only to exploit the fact that people don't realize they're buying a deliberately downgraded product -- email appliances and whatnot.

Well, spread me with mint jelly, cause I been fleeced. I decided to do some comparison shopping because my web host charges extra for mySQL, and it appears that for the amount I'm paying, I ought to be getting *30,000 times* more storage space.

(It's not quite as bad as it sounds; you can't get hosting for much less than I'm paying, and the capacity hasn't been an issue so far. But still. That's absurd.)

Yea, but when you're paying for hosting, you're not really paying for storage space. In fact, lots of hosting providers jack up the storage space because they know you won't use it. What you care about are the server uptime, server responsiveness, and bandwidth saturation. Those are the factors you actually pay for.

Storage is just a distraction.

Well, fair enough. In this case, the dispositive issue is actually that I don't want to pay an extra 20 bucks a month for mySQL that other hosts include for free, but the storage thing makes a good headline.
